Lähdimme viileänä, sateisena torstaina kokeilemaan kaupungin uusinta huonepakopelitulokasta, Mysteeriä. Tiimimme jäseniä painoi raskas työviikko, kaikkia väsytti ja jokainen epäröi, pelaisiko pää huonepakopelin arvoituksien ratkaisemiseen tarvittavalla tavalla. Mielessä kävi, olisiko koko juttu pitänyt siirtää tuonnemmaksi.
Astuimme sisään huomaamattomasta ovesta tuiki tavalliseen toimistorakennukseen Tampereen keskustassa. Hissien ovien avauduttua Mysteerin kerroksessa huomasimme kuitenkin ensimmäisenä poliisinauhat viereisen oven postiluukussa. Jaahas, tunnelmaa luodaan jo rappukäytävässä. (Myöhemmin meille tosin selvisi, että kyse ei ollutkaan rekvisiitasta…)
Ohjeistusta
Mysteerin tiloissa meidät otti vastaan kohtelias ja hyväntuulinen Teemu. Hän pohjusti tulevaa kokemustamme huumorilla höystäen. Kävimme läpi sääntöjä ja muutamia vinkkejä, joiden avulla tehtävässä onnistuminen voisi helpottua. Sitten oli aika sitoa silmät ja lähteä kohti tuntematonta.
Kohti tuntematonta
Ovi sulkeutui ja kello lähti käyntiin. Otimme siteet silmiltämme ja aloimme pohtia poispääsyä. Aikaa oli kuusikymmentä minuuttia.
Kello käy suljetussa tilassa muuten yllättävän nopeasti. Tiimimme pysyi kuitenkin kylmäpäisenä ja teki tehokasta yhteistyötä. Jokainen keskittyi herkeämättä kokemukseen. Eteen tuli yllättäviä, hauskoja ja kinkkisiäkin pulmia, mutta tehtävä toisensa jälkeen ratkesi. Viimein koko mysteeri avautui meille ja sitten summerikin soi annetun ajan päättymisen merkiksi.
Siirin undulaatti
Joukkueemme muodostui yhdestä keltanokasta ja kolmesta jo aiemmin toista huonepakopeliä testanneesta jäsenestä. Ensikertalainen oli aivan innoissaan uudesta kokemuksesta, kokeneemmilla puolestaan oli vertailukohtaa ja he osasivat laittaa pelikokemuksensa jonkinlaiseen perspektiiviin. Tuomio – ihan parasta! Tehtävää tukeva tarina ja koko jutun toteutus saivat kaikilta vuolaita kiitoksia. Vaikeustaso oli sopiva, mikä takasi myös riemukkaita onnistumisen kokemuksia – ne kun ovat ensiarvoisen tärkeitä tällaisissa puuhissa. Liian vaikeat pulmat nimittäin aiheuttavat turhautumista, liian helpot puolestaan tympääntymistä.
Tiimimme astui ulos Siirin huoneesta jonkinlaisessa hurmoksessa. Väsymys oli haihtunut ja puuroisen pään tilalla oli kirkas, intoa puhkuva mieli. Nautimme superhauskasta tehtävästä täysin rinnoin ja kävimme ylikierroksilla vielä pitkään poistuttuamme lähikuppilaan puimaan kokemaamme.

Vaikka vapaapäivän riemuksi tämä huonepakokokemus on erityisen hauskaa ohjelmaa, voimme suositella sitä myös työn uuvuttamille sieluille väsyttävän päivän päätteeksi. Se virkistää ja vie ajatukset taatusti pois kaikesta muusta. Kaveriporukat, polttariryhmät, työtiimit, synttärijengit – kokeilkaa tätä! Mekin aiomme mennä uudestaan. Huom! Suomea taitamattomatkin kaverit voivat osallistua, koska vihjeet ovat myös englanniksi.
P.S. Sinkuille on muuten tarjolla ihan oma konseptinsa – mysteeritreffit! Salaperäiset sokkotreffit suljetussa huoneessa ovat toki uskaliasta puuhaa, mutta onnihan se suosii rohkeaa. Tunnin aikana toisen todellinen luonteenlaatu pilkahtanee esiin ja päätös seuraavien treffien kohtalosta saattaa kirkastua tavallista helpommin. MYSTERY ESCAPE ROOMS
It was a chilly and rainy Thursday when we set out to test the newest room escape game provider in town, Mysteeri. Our team was exhausted from the tough workweek, everyone was tired and all of us hesitated about our minds’ ability to tackle those puzzles that we would need to crack in order to get through the game. We even thought about postponing the whole thing.
We stepped into an ordinary office building whose door would have easily gone unnoticed had we not paid attention to the street numbers. When we got off the elevator on Mysteeri’s floor, we first noticed the police line on the door next to Mysteeri’s. OK, so they are creating the right atmosphere already in the staircase. (Only later did we find out that it wasn’t prop after all…)
Guidance
At Mysteeri we were greeted by a polite and cheerful guy, Teemu. He prepared us for what was coming with a humorous touch. We went through some rules and he gave us a few tips that might come in handy later. Then it was time to put on blindfolds and head for the unknown.

The door was closed behind us and time started ticking. We uncovered our eyes and began to think about how to get out. We had sixty minutes.
In a confined space, time really flies, that we can tell you. However, our team kept their cool and worked efficiently together. Each and every one concentrated thoroughly on the task at hand. We encountered surprising, funny and even tricky puzzles, but one after another we solved them. Finally the entire mystery was revealed and the buzzer went off to indicate that time was up.
Siiri’s parakeet
Our team consisted of a newbie and three others who had already tested another room escape game. The noob was totally excited about this new experience, while the more experienced members had something to compare this to and were able to put the whole thing into perspective. The verdict – awesome! The story supporting the task and the execution of the whole game were praised. The level of difficulty was suitable guaranteeing also jubilant feelings of success – they are, after all, very important when you are occupied with something like this. Puzzles that are too difficult will leave you frustrated, while those that are too easy will leave you bored.
We stepped out of Siiri’s room all hyped up. Our exhaustion was long gone and groggy heads were replaced by clear, enthusiastic minds. We truly enjoyed this super fun experience and stayed on overdrive for a long while even after leaving for the corner joint to go through the experience.

Even though this room escape game is an especially fun activity for a day off, we can also genuinely recommend it to weary souls after an exhaustive day at work. It refreshes your mind and is guaranteed to take your thoughts away from other stuff. Room escape games can be warmly recommended to group of friends, bachelor / bachelorette parties, work teams, birthday bashes, you name it! We’re planning on going again too. Note that even people who don’t speak Finnish can participate, as all the tips you need are also available in English.
P.S. There’s a special concept for single people – a mystery date! A secretive blind date in a locked room is daring, but fortune favors the bold, they say. In the hour you’re spending together, you’re bound to learn something important about the other person that will probably then make the decision about a second date easier. The organizers will select a suitable sounding candidate for each person based on information given in advance by both parties. Recommended for the courageous.
