Taidekeskus Mältinrannan vuoden ensimmäisessä näyttelyssä teemana ovat ihminen, ruumis ja henki. Soili Taljan suurikokoiset työt ovat tummanpuhuvia, musteella paperille tehtyjä maalauksia, joihin heleät värit tuovat keveyttä. Ne ovat abstrakteja tulkintoja sielun ja ruumiin liitosta. Nykytaiteen museo Kiasma on ostanut kokoelmiinsa maalauksen nyt esillä olevasta sarjasta.
Toinen töitään esittelevä taiteilija, Saija Hairo, puolestaan suuntaa huomionsa ihmiskasvoihin, joskin perinteistä poikkeavalla tyylillä. Enimmäkseen akryyli- ja öljyväreillä toteutetut työt ovat osa jo vuonna 2013 alkunsa saanutta Human-sarjaa, ja ne näyttävät monenlaisia kasvoja esittäen samalla kysymyksiä normaaliudesta, hyväksyttävyydestä ja kiinnostavuudesta.

Face, Body and Soul
The first exhibition of the year at Mältinranta Art Center focuses on the human, the body and the spirit. Soili Talja’s large-scale pieces are dark paintings made with ink on paper with some brighter colors adding lightness to them. They are abstract interpretations of the union between the soul and the body. Kiasma, Museum of Contemporary Art in Helsinki, has bought one of the paintings to its collections from the series now on display.
The other artist showcasing her works, Saija Hairo, concentrates on the human face, although in an untraditional manner. The pieces, mainly done with acrylic and oil paints, are part of the Human series that she started already in 2013. They bring forth various faces while posing questions about normality, acceptability and attractivity.
