Yellow House eli Keltainen Talo on todellinen DIY-mekka, jossa yhdistyvät vanhan ajan kansalaistalon ja uuden ajan omaehtoisen, urbaanin kulttuuritilan henki.
Koko kansan kulttuuriolohuone muuntautuu keikkapaikasta galleriaksi ja luentosalista työpajaksi tarpeen mukaan. Talosta löytyy soittimia joita saa soittaa, seiniä joita saa maalata, kahvia jota saa keittää, kirjoja joita saa lukea ja lainata, sekä free shop josta saa ottaa tai johon saa tuoda ylimääräiseksi jäänyttä materiaa.
Yellow Housessa kaikki perustuu vapaaehtoisuuteen. Keikoille on vapaaehtoinen pääsymaksu ja kahvista saa maksaa kolehtia. Varsinaisia aukioloaikoja ei ole, mutta silloin kun ovi auki, on jokainen tervetullut olemaan, tekemään ja kokemaan.
Olipa Yellow House sinulle ennestään tuttu tai ei, sinun kannattaa saapua tontille lauantaina 6.9., jolloin rosoinen katurock-bändi City In Pain rokkaa kello 20 alkaen. Eikä siinä vielä kaikki, sillä samana iltana myös noisen ja krautrockin nimeen vannova tamperelainen Wounded Girl juhlii kasetinjulkaisua (kyllä, luit oikein) ja louhii talon kellarissa klo 21 alkaen.
Communal Culture Space Is Rocking!
The Yellow House is a true mecca of DIY ideology combining the spirit of old-time community centers and present-day urban, voluntary-run cultural spaces.
The Yellow House can turn from a concert venue to an art gallery and from a seminar hall to a workshop. The house provides instruments you can play, walls you can paint, coffee you can make, books you can read and borrow. There is also a free shop where you can take what you need and leave what you don’t.
Voluntary is the key word at the Yellow House. The entrance fee to concerts is optional, and you can pay what you want for the coffee. There are no proper opening hours, but when the door is open, you are welcome to hang around, do stuff and experience things.
Whether you were familiar with the Yellow House beforehand or not, you should definitely hit the property on Saturday 6 September, when the rough-on-the-edges street-rock band City In Pain is performing at 8 pm. And that’s not nearly all, as the Tampere-based noise and krautrock band Wounded Girl is throwing a cassette release party (yeah, you read it right) and doing their thing in the basement starting at 9 pm.
