Vielä ennen joulunpyhiä ehtii lepuuttaa silmiään taiteessa. Kannattaa siis kaiken hössötyksen keskellä ottaa hetki omaa aikaa ja piipahtaa Galleria Rajatilaan. Siellä Emmi Kallio muistuttaa, että Juhlien jälkeen tulee aina aamu. Kallion maalauksissa teemana on ajan kulumisen vääjäämättömyys ja alati kaivattujen juhlavalojen väistämätön hiipuminen arjen aamunkoittoon. Niin haikeaa kuin tieto kaiken päättymisestä onkin, se saattaa ehkä herättää huomaamaan hetken kauneuden.
Milla Toukkarin näyttelyssä Kuvatekstejä / Captions puolestaan huomio suunnataan kuvan ja tekstin vuorovaikutukseen. Kuva ja siihen liitetty kuvateksti takertuvat toisiinsa rakentaen samalla toivottua mielikuvaa kohottamalla jotakin esiin ja samalla rajaamalla jotakin pois. Ne ovat eri kieliä, mutta pyrkivät samaan lopputulokseen – ohjaamaan katsojan ajattelua haluttuun suuntaan. Taidegraafikko Toukkari pyrkii töissään paljastamaan kuvan rakennetun luonteen.

Take a Break from All the Fuss
You still have time to feast your eyes on some art before Christmas holidays begin. So, take a moment just for yourself amidst all the fuss and head over to Galleria Rajatila. There artist Emmi Kallio reminds us that parties are always followed by the next morning. The theme of her paintings is the inescapable passing of time, the fact that the longed-for party lights will inevitably always fade out when the sun rises. Even though knowing that everything will come to an end is somehow sad, it might stir you up to notice the beauty of the moment.
Milla Toukkari’s exhibition Kuvatekstejä / Captions is about the interaction of the image and the text. An image and the caption attached to it cling to each other while trying to create a certain message by underlining something and excluding something else. They are two different languages but their aim is the same – to guide people’s thinking in the wanted direction. Printmaker Toukkari desires to reveal the structured nature of images in her works.
